A WEEK IN TOKYO – WHERE TO STAY, EAT & SHOP

After a ski trip in Nozawa Onsen, we hopped on a high-speed train and made our way to Tokyo. My first taste of Tokyo was getting off at Shibuya station and seeing the iconic Shibuya Crossing. The bustling yet calm city enticed me straight away.

STAY: Shibuya

We stayed in Shibuya, the centre of all the activity.

EAT: Everything!

Majority of the places we ate at we just stumbled upon and they were all so delicious. Even our breakfast sushi from 7 Eleven was great.

I also found some really nice Western cafés:
Brooklyn Pancake House in Shibuya (from my recent google search it looks like it has since closed L)

L’occitane café is above the L’occitane store right in the centre of the Shibuya crossing. Here you can get some delicious cakes and one of the best views of the crossing.

Aoyama Flower Market Tea House in Minato is not only a beautiful flower shop but also home to a gorgeous teahouse. The teahouse is a glass conservatory within the store and serves a huge selection of tea, unique desserts and warm hearty savoury meals.

SHOP: Hello designer consignment stores!

10 Tow has a great mix of vintage and second-hand designer pieces. It’s a tiny store but filled with so many great finds. I found a couple of Comme Des Garçons pieces here.

Ragtag and Komehyo are both chain stores that have a huge range of high-end designer second-hand goods at reasonable prices. I picked up a couple of Louis Vuitton bags for my mum and best friend from Komeyho and found myself Manolo Blahnik’s at Ragtag.

Ginza is a shopaholic’s dream. The streets are filled with high-end designer stores. There are also great boutiques in the area, including designer pet boutique stores where I found my puppa a ‘chewy vuitton’ toy.

The best shop in Ginza though would have to be itoyawhich is a 12 storey stationary store. We spent hours in itoya trying out all their unique products and purchased stacks of cool pens, paper and other random, but useful knick-knacks.

SIGHTS

The classic sights in Tokyo that you can’t miss and probably already have on your Tokyo to-do list are:
-      Meiji Shrine
-      Tokyo Tower
-      Shibuya Crossing
-      Tokyo Imperial Palace
-      Harajuku St

Have you been to Tokyo? What were your favourite things to do there?

Thanks for reading!
