How to spend a long weekend on the Mornington Peninsula

HOW TO SPEND A LONG WEEKEND ON THE SOUTH OF THE MORNINGTON PENINSULA

Thanks to a lovely friend and their family beach house in Shoreham, Ivor and I had a little escape to the southern region of the Mornington Peninsula just before the craziness and excitement of Christmas.

In true Melbourne fashion, the weather was up and down with the sky covered in grey clouds and sporadic bursts of intense sun. But luckily the Mornington Peninsula isn’t just blessed with beautiful beaches but also an abundance of wineries, restaurants and distilleries, so there’s always something to do.

DAY #1 – REST AND RELAXATION

We walked over to Honeysuckle beach, laid out a towel and spent the entire afternoon absorbing the beach atmosphere and endlessly reading our books.

DAY #2 – PT LEO ESTATE

From the recommendations of our lovely friend’s mum, we went to Point Leo Estate.

As soon as we arrived at the front entrance of the estate I was blown away. The driveway and the estate’s main building are so incredibly beautiful!

We decided to splurge and have a nice end-of-year lunch and wine there, which was delicious. Then we made our way through the estate’s sculpture park, yes that’s right – there’s a sculpture park!

The sculpture park is $5 entry and takes around 60mins to walk around. If you don’t want to splurge on lunch or if you’re not a wine drinker, I would still highly recommend visiting Point Leo Estate just for the sculpture park. The park is huge with incredible views of the surroundings bays. The copious collection of sculptures in the park is impressive, with some famous and recognisable pieces in the park previously pieces placed around the Melbourne CBD.

DAY #3 - REST AND RELAXATION CONTINUED…

To be honest this day was another chilled day of reading and watching Netflix.

Have you been to the Mornington Peninsula before? Or where’s your favourite place for a chilled weekend escape?

Thanks for reading!
Nat xx
