My outfit at Death Valley:
Death Valley National Park, CA (USA), Feb 16'
From the ice and cold of Yosemite National Park to the hot desert of Death Valley. My suitcase was not ready for this climatic change. As soon as we arrived into the park and I saw the sizzling air and red dry desert landscape, I realised I made a mistake only packing one t-shirt. Do not underestimate Death Valley’s winter days.
My usual sights of nature are forests and beaches; I have never visited a desert before. Losing my desert visit virginity at Death Valley was spectacular. It was the first time I had seen sand without the coast in sight. The tall wind shaped ridges, limitless sand dunes and barren land looked like a landscape out of Star Wars and guess what, we found out some of the films were set in Death Valley.
Driving through the boundless red lands I saw no sign of life (other than tourists), however I was still shocked by the silence amongst such immense scenery when we stepped off the bus. There were no bird calls, no creaking of insects, just quietness. Now I get the name – barely any life, boiling temperatures, no water in sight – this is Death Valley.
Have you guys ever visited Death Valley or a desert before? What did you guys think?
