During my winter stay in Europe, we did afternoon stopovers over in Bratislava and Donovaly for lunch.
We visited the town centre in Bratislava and had a wander around the Christmas markets. Bratislava seemed like a dainty town, small in structure and composed of pretty pastel coloured old buildings.
Another stop over in Slovakia was in Donovaly, a ski resort. Some of the Australians I was on tour with had never been to the snow mountains and they were loving the experience of throwing snow balls. It was a joyous experience for them and nice to watch, but then that sensation went away when snow was thrown on me.
The ability to have new countries ready available in a few hours drive is a concept not even possible in Australia. Travelling abroad is a vigorous task, taking up many hours. The experience of being able to drive country to country and have stop overs in other countries was so amazing. In a few hours, a new destination, a new culture and new things to experience was always awaiting us.
The next stay during my winter in Europe is Budapest, Hungary. I hope that post for that will be up soon, I’m am very very very slowly getting through these posts from months and months ago (oops).
