The time of the year for thick knit jumpers and coats are here. This time last year was my year 12 formal. It was an unforgettable night with friends, a photo booth, the Melbourne Aquarium, limousines, pampering and of course beautiful dresses.
Having a night where you can forget the books during your toughest year of secondary schooling and celebrate with your friends and teachers is amazing. Everyone scrubbing up looking their best, dancing like no one is watching, foolish competitions and great food is always a great distractor.
My favourite part of the night was all the lovely ladies dresses. The dress was a big deal and took up a lot time leading up the big night. My preparations involved organizing where to get my hair, make-up done and finding the perfect dress. For me, my perfect dress was to be comfortable, different to the convention formal dress and make me feel confident. Our dresses were a prevalent topic of discussion in the senior’s study centre, we even had a facebook page to ensure no two girls wore identical dresses. Finding our perfect formal dress was a stressful time for many of us. I spent a good 2 full days searching the city and Chapel st for my dress. I visited and travelled to many stores, which was exciting but also stressful. I also browsed online for a dress, which honestly was a much more effortless task compared to visiting the stores.
Finding a dress for any occasion whether it is for prom, formal, a cocktail party or a wedding can be quite a laborious task. Generally speaking a man can have a suit that covers all events, but unfortunately this usually is not the case for a woman and her dress. Each event has a dress tailored for it, which means searching for something appropriate to wear each time. Luckily I found Victoria’s Dress, which is an online store selling a huge range of garments from long to short prom dresses, evening dresses, bridesmaids dresses and the list goes on. The convenience of being able to browse through a wide range of dresses that covers all events can make what would usually be a stressful time; easy and potentially relaxing (if you’re like me and like online shop on the couch with a nice cup of tea).
So if your year 12 formal (or any exciting event) is coming up soon I hope you find the perfect dress that makes you look and feel great.
